With more than 60 years of service and providing more than $120,000 in scholarships to the Evansville community, the women of Zeta Zeta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. are committed to raising funds to benefit education and international program targets of the sorority.  For several years, Frankye Calloway, a long-time member of Zeta Zeta Omega, had championed the cause for the chapter to establish a foundation.  With a shared vision, she enlisted others in the sorority to her cause.  These dedicated women, who had long been in the forefront of fundraising for the chapter, determined that a systematic approach to fund development was needed to increase revenue.  They found that while the primary reason for donations for givers was altruistic, tax deductibility was an added benefit for some but a requirement for many.

In November 2014, 24 women of Zeta Zeta Omega voted to establish a 501(c)(3) foundation as a partnership with Zeta Zeta Omega in order to afford contributing individuals and corporations the benefits of tax deductibility.  Vicki White, a member of Zeta Zeta Omega, volunteered to be the helmsman to guide and educate the interest group in the process of obtaining the foundation.

 

After several months of research and addressing the necessary hurdles, the Pearls of Distinction Foundation, Inc. was officially incorporated on March 18, 2015.  The official organizational meeting of the foundation was held on May 2, 2015.

As a partnership with of Zeta Zeta Omega, Pearls of Distinction Foundation, Inc. begins a new journey to launch a strategic fund development plan to benefit our youth and the community we serve.  Building on the impact made by Zeta Zeta Omega, Pearls of Distinction Foundation, Inc. will support the efforts as our foundation.
